The Baltimore Ravens were hit with some devastating news earlier today.

Cornerback Tray Walker, who just finished his rookie season in the NFL, died after being in a dirt bike crash late Thursday night.

Walker was riding his dirt bike in the Miami area when he collided with another vehicle. According to a report, Walker was not wearing a helmet, did not have his bike’s lights on, and was wearing dark clothing. Witnesses and police think Walker was bike racing with another unnamed NFL player.

Walker was transported to a trauma center in Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital. Throughout Thursday night Walker was in brain surgery. On Friday after he was out of surgery, doctors tried to get Walker to respond but were unable to.

Walker was pronounced dead around 3:00 pm on Friday afternoon. He was 23 years old.

Walker was a fourth round pick (136th overall) by the Ravens in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Texas Southern. Walker played in eight games last season and mainly contributed on special teams. Although his impact on the field last season was small, several of his teammates mourned the loss on Twitter upon hearing the news on Friday.

Several Ravens officials flew down to Miami on Friday to support Tray’s family. Albert Breer from NFL.com was able to get some quotes from Ravens coaches and members of the front office.

Along with this report, I want to send my personal thoughts and condolences to Tray Walker’s family, friends and teammates. Tray Walker may have only been a Raven for one season, but his presence will not be forgotten.

Rest easy, Tray.
